Pam Bondi, Attorney General (= Justiziministerin) der USA. War gestern zu einer Anhörung bzgl. des Epstein-Skandals und hat - wie es Sitte ist - keine einzige Frage beantwortet. Bei einer “Antwort” fing sie dann an, vom Dow Jones zu erzählen (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7yv4fpfDbs).

Klar, man übergibt der Begleitperson damit natürlich eine Menge Verantwortung. Ich weiß nicht, wie das rechtlich geregelt ist; bestimmt kann man da als Begleitperson auch belangt werden, wenn fahrlässig gehandelt wird. Wir haben halt erstmal am Feld angefangen und uns dann nach und nach auf schwierigere Straßen getraut.

Ich bin zur Zeit im Rahmen meines Studiums in der Autismusdiagnostik beschäftigt. Zu den Kommentaren hier würde ich sagen: Es ist ein bisschen von beidem.

Auf der einen Seite erleben wir das hier auch, dass Leute mit der recht klaren Überzeugung kommen, auf dem ASS zu sein oder ADHS zu haben. Manchen wird das von Freund:innen nahegelegt, oft haben sie auch Online-Fragebögen ausgefüllt (was ja naheliegt, wer würde das bei so einem Verdacht nicht machen?). Und klar wird das durch die stark erhöhte Aufmerksamkeit für Neurodivergenz in den sozialen Medien noch verstärkt.

Manchmal wünschen sich übrigens auch Eltern recht deutlich eine entsprechende Diagnose für ihr Kind - da kann die (vielleicht unbewusste) Motivation sein, einen Förderschwerpunkt oder andere Hilfen für das Kind zu bekommen und dadurch entlastet zu werden.

Intern wird hier entsprechend tatsächlich auch manchmal von “Wunschdiagnosen” gesprochen - natürlich aber nicht im Gespräch mit Klient:innen.

Auf der anderen Seite ist aber wichtig zu sagen, dass Psycholog:innen dieses Phänomen anders bewerten als der Stammtisch. Dort wird man bei so einem Artikel sagen: “Diese jungen Leute, die denken sich alle irgendwelche Diagnosen aus”. Das ist aber Unsinn, denn die Menschen, die zu uns kommen, haben samt und sonders deutliche Symptome, die meistens mit ADHS- oder ASS-Symptomen zumindest stark überlappen. Da wird sich also nichts ausgedacht und herbeigewünscht, sondern es besteht tatsächlicher Leidensdruck. Es ist dann Aufgabe der Profis, genau daraufzuschauen und zu prüfen, ob ADHS oder ASS wirlich die passgenaueste Diagnose ist. Oft erklärt eine andere Diagnose die Symptome dann doch etwas besser (z. B. soziale Angststörung, zwanghafte oder emotional instabile Persönlichkeitsstörung, Zwangsstörung, Depression…).

Auf jeden Fall wird da also nichts herbei-konfabuliert, die Probleme sind echt, und dass man mit einer Ahnung oder sogar Überzeugung ankommt, was es ist, ist ja erst mal auch legitim. “Wunschdiagnose” heißt dann nicht “Wünschdirwas” sondern meint den Wunsch, endlich Klarheit zu haben. Schwierig wird es, wenn die Diagnose vonseiten der Profis nicht akzeptiert wird - das habe ich persönlich bisher aber noch nicht erlebt.

Ich bin in der Schweiz aufgewachsen und da war das (zumindest damals) auch möglich. Habe die Theorieprüfung gemacht und konnte im Anschluss (noch vor Fahrstunden und dann auch begleitend dazu) mit meinem Vater das Fahren üben. Das hat bei uns gut geklappt und auch dazu beigetragen, dass ich nicht allzu viele Fahrstunden machen musste.

Warum? Ich bin vor einigen Monaten mit Mint auf Linux umgestiegen (von Windows) und komme bisher gut zurecht.

Writing this from Linux which I installed last fall in lieu of the Windows 11 update.
I’m still using both OS via dual boot, and I still have some unresolved issues on Linux, but I will fully transition during the course of this year.
One thing that is really mind-blowing is the difference in performance on my ~7 y/o laptop. My Linux Mint is just lightning fast compared to Windows 10. You can quite literally feel how Windows runs a thousand random things in the background (most of which I never asked for) whereas Linux feels very clean and… empty, but in a good way.

He may have good reason to fear he won’t be around anymore for the next one.

Bin vor einiger Zeit zu Piefed gewechselt, eigentlich nur zum Ausprobieren, und einen großen Unterschied zu Lemmy nehme ich eigentlich auch nicht wahr… Aber die Anzeige aller Kommentare auch aus Kreuzpfosten ist super klasse.

I love Ghibli movies so much because they tell stories very well, they are never black and white, and they always make me feel and ponder things. (And all that with beautiful art and music).

I’ve had similar thoughts these past two or three years but at least with my current life (family, work/studies, volunteering…) going offline isn’t even close to feasible. But at least I have started to move more and more of my online life to FOSS services or smaller or European companies. Finally installed Linux last year, also thinking of dabbling in self-hosting some time in the near future.

But I’m pretty sure the next years will give us a kind of Neo-Luddite movement, because you’re clearly not the only one fed up with modern digitlal tech.

Do you already have a server deployed? How familiar are you with Linux?

No server. I just installed Linux a few months ago as dual boot after being a lifelong Windows user (since 3.1 lol). Currently using both OS but will move fully to Linux once I have some projects finished. Self-hosting might become a future project after that and if yes, I’ll come back to this community and this thread!

What’s stopping people you know from taking this step?

I’m a noob when it comes to IT. (Even though in my family I’m the one people ask when they have computer issues lol.) I would really like to get into self-hosting and all that, and I think if I found some good guides I would probably be able to make things work, but it still sounds very daunting to me. Like, I imagine days if not weeks of sifting through online resources to fix a thousand little errors and issues that would come up. (Maybe I’m mistaken, maybe it’s all really easy even for noobs. Just trying to explain my feelings on the matter.)
