  • I think I know what you’re talking about! The people who pretend to be “far-left”, socialist or communist but for some bizarre reason they keep supporting Russia.

I had an experience with one of those people recently. I asked one of those people point blank do you support Trump and they completely dogged the question. Clicking on profiles of these types of people I notice they also never denounce Trump or Republicans or do so very rarely.

I actually deeply regretfully used to be somewhat of a Trump supporter so now I’m very sensitive to people who may be secretly Trump supporters or those who have similar characteristics. Those “tankie” type people really peg my MAGA-meter. It’s almost like when someone has an abusive ex they tend to notice certain things more afterwards (I wish I could word this sentence better but hopefully people can understand).

Ultimately what makes tankies and MAGA similar even if they are not secretly supporting Trump or a bot is belief persistence when there is contrary and reputable evidence and belief in conspiracy theories. Part of what helped me escape MAGA is media literacy and realizing that if someone presents reputable information that contradicts what I believe, I should change my beliefs not plug my ears and regurgitate conspiracy theories based on some random comment like a screenshot of a screenshot of a 4chan post or just saying nonsense like “I don’t trust the MSM”.

  • Russia tried to invade Ukraine and that’s why we have the war. Russia is being imperialistic and Ukraine wants to preserve their country and not live under a Putin dictatorship.

The EU is preparing and strengthening themselves in response to Russia’s aggression. The end result is that they are more resilient and stronger against threats.

By standing up to Russia’s aggressions they are showing the world that they will not tolerate military invasions into another country. Meanwhile Trump threatening to annex other countries is giving a green light to dictators like Putin and Xi Jingping to invade other countries.

  • THERE IT IS AGAIN! “ANTISEPTIC”! It’s a psychic trigger word implanted by the globalist pedophile vampires to short-circuit your brain before you can expose the truth about their dual-citizenship space bank on Mars! They’re not just cleaning the information, they’re sterilizing your soul with fluoride-laced chemtrails so you’ll be too docile to notice the lizard people running the Federal Reserve and using your Social Security number to power their gay frog-transmuting weather machines! IT’S ALL CONNECTED!

    /s again of course.

  • Oh, you don’t mean “antiseptic,” you mean “antisemitic,” and let me tell you, that Freudian slip is the key to the whole thing! They’re not just cleaning the wound of truth, they’re cauterizing it with their globalist mind lasers! This isn’t a mistake; it’s a coded message from the deep state, a subconscious cry for help as their brain-waves are being scrambled by the 5G towers they’re using to turn the frogs gay and control the weather! It’s all a plot by the interdimensional goblin bankers who live inside the hollow Earth, and they’re using these Hollywood CEOs as their puppets to distract you while they replace your drinking water with nanobots that make you crave avocado toast and obey their every command! WAKE UP BEFORE THEY TURN YOU INTO A SOY-BASED CYBORG DRONE!

    Huge /s of course.

  • Take the first steps. Here are things you can do right now:

    1. Stop using Microsoft Office especially stop using Office 365 and switch to Libreoffice.
    2. Stop using Windows and switch to Linux.
    3. Stop using Reddit and switch to Lemmy (for other people, not you since you’re already here)
    4. Cancel your OpenAI/ChatGPT/Copilot subscriptions if you have those.
    5. Most importantly stop using Twitter if you use that and urge everyone else to do likewise. Bluesky I really like but it’s technically based in the US too but rewarding non-rightwing companies is like positive reinforcement. I haven’t seen enough people talk about using both the carrot and the stick. There’s also Mastodon which is great but some people feel it’s more for “techy” type people.

  • Right! I’m shocked anyone would want that. I just told someone else it’s like leaving an abusive partner for an even more abusive partner. I’ve noticed countries being pushed towards China after the US went even more crazy after Trump winning. I believe they are making a mistake. Japan, South Korea and Taiwan could fulfill most of the same needs as China does and do so better. Just as a random example Japanese capacitors are known for their high quality. Japan and China both supply capacitors. Why not bolster Japan’s instead of China’s?

  • The website you posted has a history of collaborating with other fake news fascist websites.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SouthFront#Disinformation_and_propaganda

In 2016, Finnish journalist Jessikka Aro described SouthFront as “an allegedly citizen-sourced project that looks more like a suspicious information operation”. Describing it as “a fascinating hybrid of revealingly detailed military intelligence and totally bogus stories”, she said that the site’s content centers on “the success of Russia’s armed forces, and showing off Russia’s weapons”.[13]

In 2017, researchers at Oxford University’s Internet Institute studied the collaboration of SouthFront with two US-based fascist fake news sites, Veterans Today and its sister site Veterans News Now.[14][15]

Philip N. Howard, one of the paper’s coauthors, told McClatchy DC that the three websites underlay “an entire ecosystem of junk news about national security issues that is deliberately crafted for U.S. veterans and active military personnel … a complex blend of content with a Russian view of the world – wild rumors and conspiracies”.[16] The Oxford researchers concluded that the three sites were more successful on Twitter than on Facebook, saying “on Twitter there are significant and persistent interactions between current and former military personnel and a broad network of Russia-focused accounts, conspiracy theory focused accounts, and European right-wing accounts.”[14] SouthFront representatives responded to a Politico story about the Oxford study with an email saying they had no connection to Russia’s government, adding that describing them as part of a Kremlin network was “contrary to the principles of freedom of speech and … discriminatory against Russians.”[15]
