God any video of a person trying to escape something with the Springtrap audio playing in the background is guaranteed to kill me with laughter 😂

Heyo! Just another random who’s moving over from centralized social media to the Fediverse. Mastodon wasn’t too bad but I love anything like Reddit!
Games, anime, Japanese, food, and music are my loves. Fanfic beats food tho, I can read for hours instead!

Yep, another comment in this post has the screenshot of the Tumblr thread
I was like, “is this joking about the Tumblr color theory post?” and saw this and went yup.
I can’t tell if you’re joking or not, but I’ll bite.
I don’t love calling people, honestly, I might prefer talking to them in person rather than calling (same for texting, I really don’t bother with texting) and I have literally cried after making an awkward call. But I still would prefer a million times over to call an actual person to take my pizza order, and for other purchases in general.
Like yeah, online shopping and self-checkout at grocery stores are great and make sense for what you’re trying to achieve. But the robot making your pizza order is gonna fuck up and add crazy unwanted toppings, or forget to mention the spice level, or etc. A real human can clarify your questions and give you extra info like, “Oh yeah it has a slightly sweet taste to the spice,” or, “This drink is really popular for people who like fruity drinks and aren’t too big on strong alcohol.” Like you would have to do way too much effort to train a bot for all that.
I don’t wanna needlessly put people out of a simple job just because of the occasional awkward call. And talking in person is almost always a joy rather than calling. Sometimes I have a decent convo with a staff member. I have a lot of introvert tendencies, but this is one that I just tell myself “get over it”, especially when another friend is too nervous to talk, then I’ll do it for them.

Is there a cloud cat? I feel like there is, but it’s been like a year or two since I last played. This totally could be a boss/enemy tho.

Novaling@lemmy.zipto Privacy@lemmy.ml•ICE acquires Israeli spyware capable of hacking phones and encrypted appsEnglish6·4 days agoSo like, genuine question to all of those saying no sim cards/e-sims and only use wifi with airplane mode on, how do you communicate with people on the go? Do you just wait until you’re at a building with free Wi-Fi?
Huh? Is that it for the major “issues”?
Don’t get me wrong, everyone has different needs and wants, and so this might not work for everyone. I was hesitant at first to let go of mobile tap to pay, but I’ve been going strong for a year now and just take my wallet with me everywhere anyway. I have an older car so I literally can’t even use Auto/Car Play, and I was never a voice assistant type of person ever.
My biggest needs are being able to use most of the apps I use, having easy communication with my family, and security and privacy (leaning more towards security). If I could find suitable alternatives to the apps I use, and texting isn’t an issue (especially with iPhones, my family all uses them), then I’d gladly hop on over to Linux phones. I know someone is working on “WINE” for Android, and if that was doable and integrated well on Linux phones, I’d be set.
Gonna spend time researching now 🧐
Eh, both are about the same level of security, as long as you take the correct actions.
Lose a card? Freeze/Deactivate it and call your bank.
Lose your phone? Use Google/Apple/FindMyDevice (Degoogled) to either find it, or nuke whatever data you had on your phone (hopefully you made backups).
Novaling@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•TIL about Android Translation Layer (ATL), a way to port Android apps to Linux MobileEnglish3·6 days agoI don’t use official streaming apps, I basically pirate everything on a Fire stick TV. Idk if anyone has reported issues with them on GOS. Some of my banking apps work, others don’t. I just do the ones that don’t work online in browser instead, I feel like it shouldn’t be a problem tbh.
If you need tap to pay/Google wallet then you unfortunately can’t use GOS due to not being approved by Google or smth. Like SafetyNet issues or smth.
Novaling@lemmy.zipto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Let's be honest.... GrapheneOS sucks the big oneEnglish5·7 days agoLmao yeah, with lawnchair my phone feels cute and silly. Even before using lawnchair I just used paperize for auto changing wallpapers, added some icons to my homepage, ignored the black system apps, and was happy for about 6 months or so. Like UI is not the fucking issue here.
Novaling@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•TIL about Android Translation Layer (ATL), a way to port Android apps to Linux MobileEnglish141·7 days agoI’ve heard, which would be mega awesome when it does come out. Maybe I wouldn’t have to fight RCS so hard lol. Unfortunately this Pixel 8a I used is only a year old, so getting a new phone in 1-2 years seems like a waste. But if Google goes nuclear in a few years, it’s either Graphene hardware, Linux phone, or dummy…
I refuse to go back to Apple, and I didn’t come to GrapheneOS just to go back to stock Android.
Novaling@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•TIL about Android Translation Layer (ATL), a way to port Android apps to Linux MobileEnglish461·7 days agoWas just gonna say this. I’m currently using GrapheneOS and am concerned about how long my pixel 8a will last with Google being such assholes. But if this app can solve the issue of not having android, then I’d definitely switch to a Linux phone (with further research of course).
Novaling@lemmy.zipto memes@lemmy.world•Why this doesn't make anime more popular, I'll never know.English1·8 days agoEh. I didn’t watch this one, but my mom and sister did and from the short clips I’ve seen, it’s ok. Not an outstanding reverse harem like how Ouran HS Host Club or Wallflower was, but funny enough. Most of the guys aren’t giving fembiy to me anyway.
There’s just a lack of reverse harem anime in general, and the ones that do exist are either so bad they’re funny, or just boring/bad. Then there’s the ones that are like reverse harem lite, and pretend like there’s multiple romance options when it’s really just one dude that’s obviously gonna get with the girl from day one.
God, an actual Femboy + Male Harem + Boys Love show would take me out and I’d never stop thinking about it until I died, so maybe it’s a good thing I don’t have this fixation to brood over to myself.
Novaling@lemmy.zipto World News@lemmy.world•Greta Thunberg speaks before departure of flotilla carrying aid to Gaza [video]English44·8 days agoOk then. Either get on one of Greta’s boats or start you own campaign. God, it’s never enough for people. Yes, people protesting in the streets doesn’t do much, but you can’t expect the average person to have the means to go all the way to Gaza and give aid. Protests and donations are great and shouldn’t be scorned…
Novaling@lemmy.zipto Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml•How to browse websites in 2025: 13 simple stepsEnglish1·1 month agouBlock can do the same things as noscript afaik, so you don’t even need noscript anymore (and yet Tor forces it…), but yeah other than saving your global and site based decisions, I’m not sure you can avoid having to toggle domains for every brand new site you visit…
I’ve never used Bandcamp, but that is like the only place I would consider giving money to. On Friday’s all profits go directly to the creators themselves, and you own the music. Idk if they use DRM, but they have several audio/encoding options.
Like others said, if you’re gonna pirate, then pirate, but if you do wanna give people money then Bandcamp is best. Especially since you’re not streaming music when pirating (or at least not from a public service)
