12·2 years agoWell my understanding is that visa, MasterCard ECT. Are far more efficient in terms of energy and transaction time when compared to Bitcoin and Ether. Visa uses about a quarter of the power per 100,000 transactions.
So I would assume that would mean fewer data center computers to cool and therefore less water used per transaction

6·2 years agoFair enough. Although if you are interested all of their messaging bridges are available on their GitHub if you would like to self host them with your own matrix server. That way you don’t have to worry about them decrypting and reencrypting your messages.

5·2 years agoI recommend getting beeper it’s similar to sunbird although it is paid but they do open source all of their back end infrastructure. Beeper is essentially just a matrix client for a bunch of different chat service bridges.

The Roaring Fork Valley has like 50k or 40k total. Maybe more if you throw in some of Colorado Valley towns like Rifle and Silt.
