It’s lovely, thank you.

Hey!
I’m new to piefed. I was a part of the Reddit migration originally. Since then, I really enjoyed the conversations.
I’m a behavior therapist by day. Otherwise a bit of an introvert/gamer. I’m always up for a conversation. Unless I’m asleep, which is earlier and earlier these days.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•My mom says that people who don't have "value" don't deserve to live and that "depression" is just an excuse for laziness. What's is your rebuttal for it?English
8·1 day agoWell, let me ask you. What do you gain by engaging with this point of view personally?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People who have used dating apps before, what was your experience like?English
5·2 days agoHmm. Primarily I used hinge. I had some okay conversations that never went anywhere. There were more conversations that turned gross at what felt like completely random. It didn’t seem like most people were very serious, just passing time or looking for something easy and quick.
The worst part was truly matching, honestly. I couldn’t be less interested in muscle dudes with big trucks. And yet that’s most often what the app offered me to swipe on. The worst two dates I ever went on were directly connected to using dating apps. I would never use them again to meet people. I’ll just rot.
YMMV.

Memes@sopuli.xyz•True of mine but he more than made up for itEnglish
10·2 days agoOh absolutely, lol. Ten years and nothing has changed. Good news is the kiddo is understanding this is not how we should treat those we say we love, hence I doubt he will get too many more invites.

11·2 days agoYeah my ex came over for 30 minutes to watch the unwrapping and took one bag of trash with him on the way out the door. I did absolutely everything else.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•At what point is liking childrens toys sad?English
3·3 days agoI want to say never. My career is now 2-5 years and I really enjoy helping pick out toys and seeing what they do, and sharing that with my littles. I had a classroom full of toys at one point for different needs. Toys are cool. I like “grown up” shit too like my computer and video games but I will absolutely go into a tree house and slide down a slide or ride that little roller coaster thing we have in the clinic. Not everyone is going to understand in the same way people give side-eye for riding the shopping cart across the parking lot. Like what you like, just be aware those reactions are conditioned into people over a lifetime.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are your standards concerning house chores?English
7·3 days agoPet hair is no joke. I haven’t lived with an animal in over a year and I’m still finding their hairs randomly.
It has been several decades since I was in a position that I was doing more than making magic for others. I’m exhausted. But I want to keep giving my kids core memories because they deserve them. But there is no joy. Just obligation/financial burden/mental exhaustion. I hate it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are your standards concerning house chores?English
5·3 days agoI complete maintenance items daily. I live in a small place so I can even mop/vacuum daily if need be. I dust and do deep cleaning once a week as well as laundry. It’s really not time consuming if you stay on top of things (like 15-30 minutes a day). I do not have pets so that helps a lot. I also don’t have a second adult in the home, which helps a lot. Historically I’ve found it’s a lot easier to keep my home clean without multiple adults. I need a nice tidy place to feel comfortable, but I don’t judge anyone else for their choices.
Oh yes. I’m a professional at this.
Not really sure if inverted shrimp counts but it’s how I usually end up. That or 9-10.

…new idea, I need 2 duckies. They face each other like the guardians in The NeverEnding Story.

43·6 days agoI’ve turned into the work mom for the younger ones. Guess it’s all the tattoos and piercings that make me more approachable. I have a collection of young adults. I want scream “I’m not old enough to be your mother yet” except…well, 38. :/
