This is how to engage the “I just can’t anymore” feature in video apps

pulling the ethernet out of the computer

My work laptop isn’t only configured for wired networking to enable this feature, but I feel better knowing its there.

What’s wild about Teams’ popularity is that nobody actually seems to like it. I know Slack gets some shit too, but I’ve also seen people defend it. I freaking hate teams. Nothing about it works exceptionally well. It’s just a hodgepodge of kind of working features.

      Slack is still worse.

Also, Teams is a work app. Why would anyone like it? We only use it because we have to.

Well, you do, I got fired so I dont do shit but look for a new job.

I have to use Windows and Teams for work and I’m starting to feel like a computer historian or an operating system archeologist every time I use my work PC.

Someone called me directly on Teams the other day and the old Skype ringtone played; now I already knew that MS absorbed Skype but it was weird because the actual ringtone is sort of low-fi, like it’s probably the same 20 year old .wav file.

I’m pretty sure the new W11 file explorer is just Edge which is just Chrome.

I feel like I’m looking at geological layers whenever I dive into OS settings.

Some window skins are clearly from Vista.

Aesthetically it is a nightmare, but it also clearly demonstrates that W11 is six operating systems in a trenchcoat.

W11 is six operating systems standing on each other’s shoulders, wearing a trenchcoat

i seem to have ended up with my linux install being six desktop environments walking in a row, wearing a horse costume

Kind of working features that get ever so slightly worse with each update.

surely the correct response there is just saying “alright everyone been a nice workday, see you tomorrow!” and quit the call?

Don’t worry, if you click it now, the meeting will be long over before the shitty Teams client registers the click.

    Edit: Typo.

I get impatient with videos and tap the right arrow key to skip a bit, fairly often. I die a little every time that doesn’t work in teams. I don’t blame teams though, but I want to.

Soon we’ll have generative AI that extrapolates the rest of the meeting, and that skip key will work. Very poorly, but someone will do it.

Then everyone will log in to meetings, say hi, skip to the end, ask for a generated summary, log out. And nothing of value will be lost.
