  • What a stupid take. Beto O’Rourke isn’t portraid as a civil rights champion or a leftist, he’s just a democrat. Bernie was supposed to be more, he’s supposed to be the (democratic) socialist, the left, and he’s supposedly a champion of human rights.

Except for Palestine. He reminisced his beautiful Kibbutz during an active genocide to justify it, completely ignoring his hypocrisy of building such a community by brutally stealing Palestinian land.

We don’t expect Beto to say anything, we had higher expectations for Bernie. He and AOC have let us down in our time of greatest need.

Except for Palestine. They are loud and proud about all their support for human rights and fighting for everyone, except for Palestine.

Bernie will finally call it a genocide, but he’ll go with the shifting tide of blaming Netanyahu. He won’t admit that there’s something fundamentally wrong with a religious ethno supremacist genocidal state and that the rot comes from deep within society, because his priority will be to save Jewish ISIS.

Free Palestine, from the river to the sea. Let me know when he says that.

  • What do you mean nothing to do? You’re fully committed and supportive of the genocide and pervious genocides criminal wars too, you might not be funding as much as America, but you’re fully complicit.

Queen Elizabeth was the devil, that racist cunt and her underlings have destroyed most of the global south for their benefit, the world hasn’t recovered from the destruction your expansionist empire caused.

Just because Trump is literally worse than Charles today doesn’t mean you’re good. You pay taxes to a monarch who follows a line of monsters who are directly responsible for most of today’s political landscape, and instead of overthrowing the monarchy when the evil witch died, you allowed an old fart to take over ruling you.

And now your monarch is treating Trump like a monarch, which sure looks like a pledge of fealty, so the only thing left to figure out is what motivated that? What does Trump have on Charles, or is Charles simply celebrating that Epstein is gone?

You’re knee deep in this shit, bud.

  • I continue to fail to see the issue with the author, the person whose actual labour goes into the software, not your labour, deciding that they are fine with their source code being used in any way

You’re arguing with a strawman you created, no one made any statements about the author. They simply said no one should use the software.

The author can choose to use the MIT license, and we can choose not to use their software.

That seems insanely entitled, but you’re allowed to not use non-copyleft software if you really care that much. The authors of permissively licensed software aren’t forcing you to use their software.

What do you think we’re saying here? We’re saying we’re choosing not to use the author’s software, what are you taking issue with exactly?

There are plenty of valid reasons to license a work as MIT or BSD or similar. Firstly, libraries are almost always going to be permissively licensed, not just because it allows proprietary software to use those libraries, but also because it allows permissively licensed FOSS to use those libraries. If I want to use a GPL library, it’s not just that I have to make my software FOSS, it’s that I have to make my software GPL specifically. If I want to make a FOSS MIT program, I can’t use any GPL libraries

And we’ve articulated valid reasons not to replace GPL core libraries with MIT ones…

Secondly, sometimes it’s because, well, as the licence text provides, I don’t give a shit what you do with the code

Good for you? This isn’t about you (the author)… It’s about us not wanting to use your work, which you seem to take offense to, as if you did us a favor. Talk about entitlement.

But my MIT/BSD code requires 0 maintenance labour from me, and I don’t care to control how other people use it. That’s the whole point of MIT/BSD/Apache/etc. It’s the “don’t give a shit” licence.

Solid justification for using it for coreutils you got there…

  • Jews will be left holding the bag

And it will be their fault. After two years of genocide being committed in the open in their names, they still overwhelmingly support the state of Israel.

And to be clear, while they’re happy to use “antisemitism” as a rhetorical tool of suppression, they don’t even pretend to care about Jews. They are openly and happily in bed with neo-nazis and white-supremacists, they don’t even pretend to care about that. Their pitch is alt-right Christianity where if you send all the Jews to Israel, Jesus will finally come back; what logically follows from that pitch is the eventual targeting of Jews, after the brown people are delt with, for deportation to Israel.

And Israel is 100% on board, they’re worried about population size, and they’d love an influx of “refugees”, this has always been the goal, with early Zionists working with the Nazis and openly declaring that the antisemites with be their greatest allies.

  • We aren’t whining about the UN, we’re talking about the nations that make it up. You’re choosing to redirect the discussion to the UN specifically just to derail the conversation.

Thank you for the lesson no one was confused about, thank you for clarifying that the UN itself has no troops, despite me not making that claim in the first place. I repeat my expectation that the Nations needs to mobilize their troops to meet their obligations under the genocide convention to which they are party, which cannot reasonably be misinterpreted as the UN itself. I even named a nation explicitly that is finally doing something effective (Spain), but do go on.

I think what I’m saying is very clear, you’re shrugging your shoulders and saying “what can we do, the UN has no power” instead of recognizing the failure of UN member nations to actually do something. You’re apathetic to genocide and hide it behind pedantry and self-righteousness.

First they came for the communists, and all that. Palestine won’t be the end, and when you find your own people the target of the Nazis, you’ll have no one left asking their nations to intervene so you can twist their words into an irrelevant strawman to pour gasoline on and lite.

  • Jesus Christ, you’re gonna pedantically argue semantics in a conversation about stopping active genocide?

The United NATIONS, as the name implies, is an intergovernmental organization of NATIONS. We don’t expect António Guterres to personally arrest Netanyahu as the other pedantic comment mocked, we expect the governments that make up the UN to uphold their obligations, or failing that, for their people to hold their governments responsible.

Apathy rules, unfortunately, and when the Nazis come for you, there won’t be anyone left to hear you say “actually, the UN does not have “troops” to save me”.

  • Because if we say anything positive about AI programming we get downvoted to hell…

I’m not a supporter of the companies making LLMs and how they profit off others’ intellect, I’m not a supporter of their use of the technology for fascism, genocide, and pure evil. I’m not a moron that thinks LLMs are intelligent.

But I recognize it as a very useful technological advancement, it’s a very useful tool and to pretend otherwise is foolish. LLMs are an amazing coding aid, and when used correctly and fed the right context, they can save hours of frustration and research dead-ends.

Edit: see? I just called them a useful tool and got downvoted…

  • What a way to morally stand up to one evil while supporting a greater evil. Google and Microsoft are complicit in the Israeli genocide, like they’re not just American companies, they provide resources, infrastructure, and intellectual support for the genocide and apartheid systems. But you have no problem with DDG using them, right?

    Just be consistent.
