Off topic, but this is why I love Lemmy; Look at this comment section. Many people here have a logical stance, either for or against the genAI use. Both sides are making good points. Reading through the article alongside the comments, my opinion was really teetering. It’s nice to be able to come in with an open mind and be challenged like this.

I believe they could have done this between the easy and normal difficulties because there’s not much of a difference between the two other than health regen and numbers for you and the enemies. But two reasons I see that they didn’t.
Madhouse difficulty changes so much it really wouldn’t be possible for you to swap difficulties mid playthrough, so maybe they just ignored it for the other ones. Or, the reason I think is most likely, RE7 has adaptive difficulty. So even if you’re on normal and struggling, things will get nerfed or you will get buffed after dying a few times.
If you had the preorder bonus(?) it unlocks Madhouse from the start which I guess could be a trap if you’re not ready for it and pick it.
What is IG? I can’t keep up with these kids.

Hey while we’re on the topic how about a mobile browser recommendation? That one that everyone used to like is dead I believe. Either that or it just isn’t updated enough to be considered viable to me.

I read “FreeBSD Closes” and started to panic.

If you have a Discover card, they offer a service like this for free. I’m not sure how good it is, but since they already have my information I figured it was fine to use their service instead of increasing my footprint by passing my info to another company. It also hasn’t found anything since I started using it because I did what they do manually, years ago.
I was a honeydew hater until I actually had a good one. I guess it’s hard to get at the perfect ripeness or something because the majority I’ve tasted had a bad texture or were tasteless.
Yeah, this and physical media collection are the biggest arguments for console ownership. But I do see this gap closing with designated operating systems for gaming hitting the market. Steam Deck and the new steam box are amplifying interest in this. I’m thinking eventually, other than Nintendo and their walled garden, the console landscape is going to shift to a more open ecosystem of prebuilt PC boxes marketed as plug-and-play, just as consoles. And the industry ruined physical media collection when they allowed game discs to just be an insertable download card. Point is, I think the wall for you and many other console players is shrinking, and quickly at that.

There’s a reason people refer to Linux as a rabbit hole. I started in your exact position, but even then I didn’t make the switch for years. But the more I read and learned about the constant, and I mean constant, flow of personal information Microsoft is syphoning from my usage, I made the jump.
These big companies don’t even follow the old rule of law, “If it’s free, you’re paying for it another way”. Windows is a paid product that still insists on extracting as much profit from you as they can, they don’t care anymore because they are the default regardless.
The switch to Linux isn’t bad really, there are plenty of distros aimed at the “I want to switch but don’t want to use the terminal” users that getting your foot in the door is basically painless. The worst of it is when you need to use some windows only software or run spyware disguised as a videogame.
This. I am wishfully thinking that even if it doesn’t hit the ground running at launch, over time enough people will convert for it to be a commercial success. The only thing that could make me put another console in my home is my desire for physical media, but even then half of the games released are just glorified download cards. Truthfully there is almost 0 reason for an informed consumer to purchase a console now.

There’s a newish indie game I LOVE called Bloodthief, their Linux build was flawless.

I love your energy here, thank you for the affirmation.

I didn’t even know BG3 had a Linux build, yet another W for Larian. On that note, this has been my experience with the majority of Linux builds. Most of the time it’s easier for me to just use proton, because when I see the Linux build I 1. Have to make sure it’s actually working properly and 2. Have to make sure it’s an up-to-date version; I’ve had multiple games with an old outdated Linux build alongside a shiny new windows release. Anyone else have this experience? Am I doing anything wrong?
David Harbour was there, I like him. Thank you for attending my TED talk.
Thanks for the response, I’ll check it out in that case. I’ve just been overwhelmed by a lot of Marvel stuff, I still haven’t seen End Game or Infinity War because I haven’t seen all the movies that tie into them.
Is this one of those shows that require you watch every Marvel movie known to man before you understand it or to avoid spoilers? I’ve heard good things but I’m not doing all of that, I don’t even like all the movies from my favorite director let alone Marvel’s entire cinematic universe.
I know it’s hard, but you’ll get through this. One day at a time, step by step, things will get easier. Some days it might not feel like you’re making any progress; Some days you’ll feel like you’re moving backwards. But time heals all wounds. You’ve got this, eventually you won’t even remember their comment existed. Stay. Strong. Keep fighting.
