I joined World of Warcraft during the Legion expansion at the behest of my friend. I’d known about WoW for a long time and how popular it was. So I was very, very surprised to find that it’s UI was, frankly, utter fucking dogshit, that most all of the community modded it, and ony just fucking now is WoW finally trying to make some actual attempt to fix the shit themselves. And all of this pretty much fed into my opinion on WoW and many MMOs in general prior to true action MMOs: they are overrated, clunky crap, and I am astounded so many people put up with the shit rather than let it fall through the cracks and be left to rot, as it should. But then again, people still won’t stop preordering games after so many turn out dogshit, so… people are just gonna be people I guess.

6·28 days agoSnowboarding Kids on the N64 was basically snowboarding meets Mario Kart. Was pretty fun. But SSX Tricky on Gamecube will always have a special place in my heart
Back when that South Park episode aired, where the kids are into rockband, but don’t care about Randy’s ability to play real guitar. Randy doesn’t get it. This is then compared to Kyle’s baby brother Ike who likes to watch Lets Play streamers but does not actually play the damn video games. Kyle doesn’t get it. To me, that’s when divergence between me and the next generation settled in. I do not understand the appeal of streamers. I do not want to watch people play games, I want to play games myself.
Since then, a number of other things have popped up, but that was basically the recognized turning point.
Like many, first came over with the big reddit wave when Reddit changed API policy. It did not stick right away. It would take three attempts of getting into Lemmy and Sync making an app for it. I still use reddit for some videogame specific subs but otherwise I’v stopped looking at /all on reddit and will just browse here instead.
1·1 month agoPart of me wonders from time to time how the game is doing. But I played enough of it at the time that I’m pretty done with it. Was a Swain main. I got Lulu when she came out and then I think I left a little after that.

Now I do understand her, and I hate so much more than I ever did when she was alive. She was both a terrible person but also legit crazy. So that happened
4·1 month agoI’m surprised to see Xenogears sitting smack in the middle of all that. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the game, but I’ve never met another person offline who had heard of it. I have tried many, many times to beat many different turn based RPGs. I just simply can’t, I get bored. They’re just menu simulators to me. But Xenogears was the sole exception to that rule in my life thanks to it making you perform combos for your moves. I ripped its music and used it on HTML webpages as a kid. I still have and frequently use my OG beta gmail account, which includes the first name of the main character, Fei.
2·1 month agoI got Monster Hunter: Wilds finally, but surprisingly, I have not dropped a lot of time into it despite playing the franchise since the first, with usually 100-250 hours spent on any given title I purchased in the series. TBF, my PS5 controller is in a terrible state right now, forcing me to use K&M, which is genuinely surprising to me that they added support for it in the PS5 to begin with. As far as I know, that is very rare. And while I’m no stranger to K&M, I’ve never used it for Monster Hunter and I just don’t dig it much.
I’d actually have to give my personal GOTY to a game that’s not at all new. I’ve eyed Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous for some time, even though I don’t think I’ve played a traditional CRPG since Planescape: Torment (granted not in 1999, I bought it thru GOG, so it had to be sometime after 2008.) And despite it being a CRPG and me knowing that, I played it via Playstation+ on PS5… with my controller, which still had stick drift at the time but not as bad. I sunk between 200-250 hours into it and I still have not beat the damn thing. I kept remaking my party as I grew more familiar with the game’s system. My last and favorite being subclassing all my regulars to have dinosaur pets. Game went on sale for like 6 or 7 bucks a little while ago so I just went ahead and bought it permanently. I’m sure I’ll revisit it again just like I do Elder Scrolls and Borderlands franchises.
128·1 month agoI realize you and your upvotes might be in the small majority but if that’s genuinely the way ya’ll feel you’re either way too damn sensitive or your reading comprehension of English just sucks. I can easily look at that and tell “fun” has nothing to do with the murdery bit here. What a fucking nothingburger to bitch about.
It’s not that I dislike getting in the shower, but that I dislike the part where I have to get out. Then I’m wet, colder, and clothes tend to stick until I’m completely dry. Not to mention having long hair that stays wet and damp for quite a while. It’s an annoryance.
I am happy to see 40K finally get the Total War treatment, but fuck man, no way is my PC gonna run that and I am not in a position to be getting a new one. Future goals I guess.

As much as I enjoyed Wrath of the Righteous, I give zero fucks when being foced to play a damn human. Sure, my companions could be something else, but I must still be a human, and I’m just not about that. “Lookit all this fantastical fantasy stuff! But here, play with the basic human.” Fuck off. No. No thanks. Wish GW would push their other shit more.
3·1 month agoWell, the cool thing about life is that despite humans making up stories that declare themselves the pinnacle of it, when every human is wiped out, life won’t care and will flourish without them mucking up the works.
Sorry, but I can’t see the justification for it. I’m on board with everyone else who’s suggesting statistics, though.
1·3 months agoAnd then there’s the book of Job, the entirety of which is a story where God and Satan make a bet over a guy named Job. Satan says Job is only faithful because of the wealth God has granted him. God says Job is genuinely faithful, and tells Satan he can put Job to the test. So Satan has the entire guy’s family killed by bandits, he loses all his material possessions, and winds up plagued and homeless. Job mostly keeps his faith, yet he is persecuted by his friends (just verbally) who believe his sudden punishments are happening because he must have done something wrong and his faith must be false. Still, he holds out, mostly. Then, when Job finally starts to actually crack, God shows up as a fucking whirlwind and goes on a long-ass ramble about how great he (God) is, to which Job humbles himself. God’s response to this is to praise Job. He then chews out Job’s friends who persecuted him and demands they sacrifice 7 bulls and 7 rams and have Job pray for them because God is only gonna listen to Job, nevermind it was all a bet between God and Satan that led to this misunderstanding. Then Job is gifted twice what he had, 14000 sheep, 6000 camels, 1000 yoke of oxen, and 1000 female donkeys. A new family, with seven sons and three daughters, and of course the daughters are just the most beautiful daughters in the whole land. Then Job lived another 140 years. And this definitely makes up for the first family slaughtered, because the Bible says so.
