Someone has to work. Someone has to produce. If you don’t want to work and yet reap the rewards off of the backs of others that have have wrought, then you’re no better than a leech. A parasite. A drag on society.

Substack is, just as a reminder, a political project made by extremists with a goal of normalizing a radical, hateful agenda by co-opting well-intentioned creators’ work in service of cross-promoting attacks on the vulnerable.

Yeah. That’s not the truth of the matter. That’s someone disagreeing with some content they publish and deciding to cancel them. Medium does the same shit. You pay them. Write whatever drivel you want. They host and publish it. People chose to pay for the writers content. They’re making money. You get a platform. Substack is a business. Businesses exist to profit. There are plenty of credible writers on Substack, but someone read something distasteful on the fringe, and got a hate boner and decided to label them “extremeists”. Same shit we see every day. The solution is don’t pay for the articles you don’t like. If someone is espousing the shit the article claims then don’t pay money to the authors. If I had control to silence you or this articles author would that make this a fair and just society? No, it would be extreme.

Just being born in some geographical location doesn’t make you a decendant of their people. You are a decendant of where your ancestors are from. If your family doesn’t celebrate their heritage then pick the one that best describes where they come from. Maybe sit down and ask your parents or grand parents some questions about your ancestry so you can come to an identity based on facts.

  • The Free Press. (They are a monthly subscription) Journalists who left the New York Times. I find most of their articles to be refreshing and insightful. They seem to be truly middle-left for American politics. They don’t try and feed on outrage to gain clicks. You’ll find less low hanging fruit like Trump rage-bait, and provide more thoughtful, unbiased reporting like NPR used to back in the day. I learned about them from an article where a right-leaning NPR editor did an interview with them about lack of balance at NPR and was subsequently fired for his views. As someone who’s listened to NPR for decades It really hit home as I listened to it happen over the years in real time. I value balance over the unchecked shift to one side or the other. I really enjoy the Friday editorial newsletter, TGIF. The humor is a good way to wrap up the week.

If I have one complaint it’s that the stories skew Israel/Jewish heavy, but given that the founder is Jewish. I understand why and can forgive it. They have plenty of good talent working other stories so there is always a good read.
