Idk. I feel like the fediverse was always destined to be various walled gardens with like a few common hubs that connect them. The issue is that .world took the exrta step of blocking their ability to see our comments. Its not due to being defederated i think they did something else to not see us even on instances we are both on.

They are federated with ml but not with my instance. So since they posted to ml i can see it. But they wont see my comment since they block us.

While not entirely incorrect this is a reductive view of the situation.

I dont blame you for that, but Id like to provide additional information to anyone else who sees this.

I think the most important thing to do up front is stop talking about Ukraine as if it is a monolithic entity. The nation of Ukraine, like all others, is simply lines on a map. The actual people in that nation comprise various groups.

There are a few different ones of relevance in this situation. Firstly the people in Luhansk, and Donetsk. These are the regions in the eastern most part of Ukraine. Another group of importance is the Azov Battalion. This is a western trained and backed paramilitary organization that is openly neo-nazi.

Prior to the Russian Invasion the Azov Battalion was engaged in an ethnic cleansing campaign in Luhansk and Donetsk. This is a fact.

The Luhansk, and Donetsk regions had no real way to defend themselves. They had been appealing to Russia for assistance for a long time. Russia had ignored them. It could have intervened to stop the crimes against humanity being committed at any time. It didnt.

Instead it waited until it had its own selfish reasons for wanting to invade Ukraine, and used the liberation of Donetsk, and Luhansk as an excuse to do so.

Obviously given this context Russia is not the “good guys”. I dont think OP would claim they are.

Neither are the Saudis good guys. But if they were to invade Israel for selfish reasons and a byproduct of that invasion was the liberation of Gaza i think we could all agree that would be a good thing. Despite the Saudis simply acting in self interest to gain more land.

Now this still doesnt get into every minute detail. Like the coup in Ukraine prior to the war, or Russias actions during the invasion. But it does provide enough context to bridge the viewpoints of yourself and the OP i think.

That is to say, Russia is invading Ukraine for selfish and imperialist reasons. Yet their invasion is having the byproduct of bringing to an end an ethnic cleansing campaign.

So when the OP says “Theyre lying about Ukraine” its to point out how the US acts as if they had no hand in this situation. As if they werent supporting the Azov Battalion as it attempted ethnic cleansing. And how they act as if Ukraine is a monolithic entity. As if all Ukrainians were unhappy about Russias invasion. Which is very much not the case.

Nobody is claiming Russia to be the good guys. But if our goal is to at some point in the future have a Ukraine where nobody is being killed by violent military action then we must be aware of this nuance.

The same goes for when we interpret news on the ongoing war. Its important we are all aware of these things.

Sadly though to include all this in the meme would not a good meme make.

I agree with everyone saying just to get a new dongle. It’s not worth the headache spending hours trying to get one to work when you can get one that’ll work much better for pretty cheap. When i got my current laptop i specifically got a model that has ubuntu support from the manufacturer even tho i don’t run ubuntu. Because all the hardware in it will atleast be decently linux compatible if they want to ship it with ubuntu sometimes.

Also Mint is typically pretty good about drivers so if its not working on Mint then yeah its gonna be a pain to fix is my guess.

Idk if im just lucky but for some reason with my laptop gnomes software manager has the bios updates in it and i just install them and reboot and it does it. Im guessing thats just a cool thing Dell provides tho?

What year do you think it is? Why would the Russian Federations President have a hammer and sickle on his hat? Do you think the United Soviet Socialist Republic still exists? Do you think the Russian Federation uses the Hammer and Sickle symbol? Or is your political literacy so poor that in your mind “Hammer and Sickle = Russia = bad” is the best you can come up with? Not to mention the fact that if you knew anything about the situation in Syria you would know that Iranian and Russian backed forces are being pushed out, and the new Syrian Government is aligned with US, Turkish, and Israeli interests. Not Iranian or Russian interests.

Stop putting so much energy into defending a global empire that’s perfectly capable of defending itself, and get your geopolitical knowledge updated to this century.

Do you absolutely require linux? If so something like a older microsoft surface would be best probably. Where its a full computer x86 based and has a detatchable keyboard, or a 2-in-1 that folds the keyboard back. Downside with this is worse battery life, and itll be a bit bulkier.

If what you want is just a tablet that does not spy on you id actually reccomend just getting a pixel tablet and putting graphene OS on it. Its a custom android ROM that strips a lot out and sandboxes things to give you more control over the device while still being based on android and bringing the advantages that has (battery life, mobile optimization, etc). Down side is you dont get the full Linux OS youd want.

everything everyone else has said is correct about cost saving, but also sometimes they do sell things at a loss. If product needs to move or it will be thrown out to make room for new things theyll put it on sale at a loss so that they can atleast get something back for it. Its better than taking a complete loss when they have to throw it away, and it can act as a loss leader when you buy other things while there that arent as cheap. Loss leaders are also a way they take a loss on items. For example a grocery store may say milk for 25 cents for a week so people come to buy it and while they are there they get all their other groceries at a normal price which evens out the losses taken on the milk.

Maybe its the demisexuality talking but i feel like its not common enough to like just be friends with people first? Like on dating apps people want to immediately jump into a date or something and i think it’d be a lot healthier to just like get to know eachother as friends first then decide if you want to date in a few months. I dont understand the desire to go on a date with someone you just met i guess.

If you cant find anything i would like to point out that to contribute doesnt have to be an all or nothing affair. It’s basically impossible to exist in the imperial cores economy without your money going to something horrific. What you can do though is reduce your impact. Buy things when theyre on sale only, and try not to use them as often for example. In general just reducing the amount of money you spend reduces how much you contribute to bad things. Reduce consumption overall. Learn to make things yourself, grow a garden, herbs, etc. Repair old clothes instead of replacing them. There are hand sewing tutorials on youtube, and i find it relaxing personally.

When you do shop maybe try going to local places, if theres a farmers market near you check them out this spring, and avoid big name stores. Its not just the products that support bad things, but the stores too. I don’t drink soft drinks so i can’t tell you an alternative tho. But don’t want you to fail to find one, and just give up on the idea. Even reducing helps.

Its funny cuz people say linux is harder, but if i have a problem in linux i am never worried if i will be able to fix it. In windows? Sweating bullets. May the Gods spare me from the hell that is the registry. Dont make me go back.

Timberland boots. Expensive but theyll last forever so the price is worth it. Paired with some good insoles. As for colors its very hard to find anything like that in bigger sizes.

Not trying to tell you what to do with your own money, but is there a reason you want a newer phone? Im using a pretty old android and intend to keep it until it breaks basically. Seems like new phones dont have much i need. When i bought this one i got it used for cheap too. If your current phones just going bad and u need a new one buying an old phone refurbished with a new battery in it could save u money.

Well “intelligence” is a pretty vague term. Different people are good at different things. Intelligence isnt like a CPU clock or whatever where you can give it some general score. One person might be really good with language, and another is really good at math, or another is musically gifted, etc. How do you decide who is more “intelligent” between them? When theyre all amazing at different things? I know a guy who can barely put a sentence together, and struggles to understand what im saying sometimes, but he can take a car apart and put it back together again from memory.

Now as for if certain mental disabilities have a co-morbidity of trouble with speech im sure they do tho im no expert. Its very common for 1 condition to have a few other conditions that commonly accompany it. You can look up the specific diagnosis you have and check what the co-morbiditys are online.
