So are all dimensions. The number of dimensions is just an attribute of a vector space, and vector spaces are just models we humans define to describe natural phenomenona. You can claim that some of these models are more useful than others. But at no point does it make sense to claim that a model “exists” or not. There would be no meaning to such a statement, it would contain no information. Not wrong, just nonsensical.

The government consists of a coalition of parties that together form a majority. The other parties form the opposition. Therefore, a single party can have many seats in the parliament, but still not be part of the government, if enough other parties coalise without them.
benni@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Germany's far-right AfD welcomes Musk backingEnglish1·9 months agoIt’s the same take. They’re not in the government, and possibly never will be.
benni@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Germany's far-right AfD welcomes Musk backingEnglish4·9 months agoThey would require a coalition with another big party, but all other established parties are strongly opposed to working with them, while being at least somewhat open to working with each other. From that perspective, the current voting predictions can be seen as 19% AfD vs 60% established parties (no longer counting FDP, lol). Still bad, but I think it’s reasonably likely that the other parties would keep coalising with each other and excluding the AfD.

benni@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it worth investing if I can only contribute $50 a month?2·9 months agoWhy would the absolute amount of money matter for investing vs. saving cash? Assuming he finds a broker for which absolute transaction fees are negligible, the only important factors should be time window and risk tolerance, both of which are independent of the absolute saving rate.
To enjoy bodily warmth, some small part of you must be cold, for there is no quality in this world that is not what it is merely by contrast. Nothing exists in itself. If you flatter yourself that you are all over comfortable, and have been so a long time, then you cannot be said to be comfortable any more. For this reason a sleeping apartment should never be furnished with a fire, which is one of the luxurious discomforts of the rich. For the height of this sort of deliciousness is to have nothing but the blanket between you and your snugness and the cold of the outer air. Then there you lie like the one warm spark in the heart of an arctic crystal.

benni@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there anything Lemmy has more/better content for than Reddit and other mainstream sites?26·9 months agoFor me, it’s not about having good content that is not on reddit, but avoiding all kinds of bad content that is on reddit. I can scroll through the “top of the day” list of my subscriptions in a relatively short time and find many posts that I enjoy or that interest me. When I used reddit, there was always so much noise, ragebait, clickbait, sometimes interesting questions with only bland answers, etc.
Great post
