Pointing a spotlight at fascism is never a bad thing, even if the joke falls flat.

Technology@lemmy.world•Windows 11’s 2025 problems are getting impossible to ignoreEnglish
81·19 days agoI think for most of us that use and understand Linux, it has been better for a while.
It hasn’t been very long since Linux has been better for your average, non techy users.
Remember when windows phone was the iPhone killer?
The downvote ratio tells you you’re being ignorant. That’s literally it.

16·22 days agoI won a large online poker tournament (~5000 entries). It was for SCOOP (Spring Championship of Online Poker) and I was sent a very nice trophy and customized hoodie with my username on it.

Technology@lemmy.world•Article: I switched to eSIM in 2025, and I am full of regretEnglish
4·22 days agoThat’s odd, I just swapped phones. Old phone was eSIM, it literally couldn’t have been easier.
Well that’s fucking stupid. Basically teaching people they might as well drive home drunk.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•In a way, a gift card is kind of the opposite of a credit card
7·24 days agoThe house wins as a whole, sure.
But on an individual level, if you are smart about it you’ll spend less than you would with other payment methods.

4·24 days agoYou mean less money right? Most credit cards give you 1-2% back.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•I didn't realize my LG TV was spying on me until I turned off this setting
9·26 days agoIt’s not connecting to your neighbours wifi. Your neighbours tv can make its own hidden wifi, that your tv can look for. Once your tv connects to the other tv, it could send whatever data it likes through neighbours tv. Since their tv is internet connected it would get back to manufactures servers.
Now, I haven’t researched this, or have any hard proof of manufactures doing this. But the technology itself would be fairly trivial to implement, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s already happening.
As others have said, the only sure-fire way to ensure no connection is to remove the wifi chip altogether.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•I didn't realize my LG TV was spying on me until I turned off this setting
25·26 days agoNot necessarily. Manufacturers have been known to use ad-hoc networks to find a path back home.
For example your neighbour gets a smart tv and connects to the internet. Now your smart tv connected to your neighbours and phones home.

Technology@lemmy.world•AI-generated code contains more bugs and errors than human outputEnglish
1·29 days agoI’d never even heard of that language, so it was fun to play with.
Definitely agree that the LLM didn’t actually figure anything out, but at least it’s not completely useless

2·29 days agoCheeky, I love it.
Got correct code first try. Failed creating working docker first try. Second try worked.

3·29 days agoWhat’s your preferred Hello world language? I’m gunna test this out. The more complex the code you need, the more they suck, but I’ll be amazed if it doesn’t work first try to simply print hello world.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•So apparently full stops in texts are 'passive agressive' now. What other unwritten rules for texting have changed over the last couple of decades?
3·1 month agoEveryone in this thread that can’t understand how a period can be passive aggressive just reminds me of Sheldon from Big Bang Theory. They are so focused on what the rules strictly mean, that they can’t detect the nuance of how people actually communicate.
