I vaguely recall pushing in two buttons at once to get them both to pop out, but maybe that was something else.
I loved Torque Test Channel’s take on the whole metric thing… https://youtu.be/2QUum9NymZY?si=8w7PCNReVX1-3tMn

It looked wrong when I first clicked it, but then sort of restarted and corrected itself, almost like it started with the wrong data cached.
Sometimes they are just broken. Bad scales, sensors, etc. Kroger’s converyor style checkouts are especially bad.
Crazy answer: The moon to 1969. Imagine, Apollo 11 launches to land on the moon then suddenly a second one appears in space orbiting opposite the original.
Less crazy but still far reaching: a tazer to the theater the night of the Lincoln assassination. I wonder how different the U.S. would be if Lincoln had survived and the resonstruction period gone differently.
Somewhat more plasuable: enough documentation and evidence to convince someone high up in U.S. intelligence in 2000 that I am a time traveler then everything we have on the world trade center attack. I’m curious how different things would be if that had failed. Maybe bush only gets one term and the whole U.S. political situation shifts for the better. Maybe a less destabilized middle east avoids the worst of ISIS and with fewer syrian refugees, right wingers in Europe are less successful, Brexit fails, and Russia declines to invade Ukraine.
At least half of us are below average.
He won’t do any of it… but,
Stadiums don’t vote. The last few weeks before the election there were several posts on lemmy about big crowds attending Haris events while Trump struggled to fill venues and bored his attendees. We now now how that turned out…
Remember, it is not the super wealthy billionaires driving inequality, it is the middle class parents who (checks article) let their kids stay at home when saving money. It is not speculative real estate investors driving up home prices, it’s your friend getting help on a down payment from family.
Everyone around you who has something you want but cannot afford is clearly the beneficiary of a corrupt system of inequality of which you are a victim…
He could run again as a placeholders VP, then have the placeholder resign after taking office. This would bypass the can only be “elected” twice rule.
Yes, there is an amendment that requires a VP to meet the same eligibility requirements as the president that should prevent this, but a corrupt court could rule that since that amendment does not explicitly mention term limits, those do not apply…
Oh, and the worst issue is the hardware support. It requires a newish processor and TPM (or equilivant)
Personally none of that bothers me, but everyone’s usage is different.
10 friends decide to go out together for dinner. After some discussion they narrow it down to pizza or tacos, then vote. 3 choose pizza, 2 choose tacos, and 5 don’t vote because they don’t want pizza and even though they do like tacos, they don’t like the salsa at the taco place. Whose fault is it they are eatting pizza?
I live in a deep red state where my vote effectively does not count. Yesterday morning, I woke to an absurd amount of hip/back pain and could barely stand up. Yet I still drug my ass to the polls and stood in line for my turn to vote.
Whatever happens, I blame the fickle morons who stayed home. The parties, platforms, politics, etc. are what they are, if you can’t be bothered to at least vote for the lesser of two evils, then you deserve everything you get.
That or maybe politics Friday when those posts are allowed?
It is simple. The economy and the media.
Call it selfish, but most people are more concerned with their own well being and that of their families than anything external. They don’t see Gaza, climate change, or abortion in the grocery store, they see prices that are massively higher than they were during Trump. You can try to explain how economics works, how tarrifs are a bad idea, how inflation is actually down, but to many that’s just noise and why should they trust these economists over anyone else. Their lived experience is that, excluding covid, life was more affordable under Trump.
Take a look at the most popular cable channels and you see Fox news. Look at podcasts and there is Joe Rogan. Social media is arguably better, but X and Facebook are still big and skew right, plus the others are ripe for disinformation campaigns and bots. A large number of Americans regularly consume a diet of right wing propaganda.
