Taiwan is a Western-style parliamentary democracy. This is not the only way to run a democracy. China is a Communist democracy, with elections being only one of the ways that people can have influence over there governance. There’s a reason why 95% of Chinese citizens are happy with their government (these numbers come from a study Harvard conducted over 15 years and do not reflect Chinese government reports).

The idea that China is fascist is laughable.

If that’s what you believe, then it’s no wonder you think Taiwan should be independent. It’s not true, but it’s understandable.

You think the issue is Xi? From 1950 to 1992 the KMT was a fascist government on Taiwan killing political dissidents under martial law. The only reason that it wasn’t stopped is because the UK and US protected the KMT from the minute they lost the civil war.

The reason there is greater tension with Taiwan under Xi is because the US has ramped up its rhetoric, its military collaboration, and its diplomacy with Taiwan while Xi is in office. The CPC has always considered Taiwan part of China, and the KMT have always considered Taiwan part of China. The problem has always been the West intervening to create conflict and protect fascists.

Talk about a slippery slope. Your position is that we can’t possibly do better than genocide, settler colonialism, and supporting Nazis and neonazis, and anyone who says those things are non-starters is obviously a bloodthirsty murderous Russia supporter.

Do you see how your worldview is so tiny that it affords literally no other room for anything other than mass murder?

There is a better way than the American way. The American way is a dead end. It must be overturned. Building a just society on the basis of land theft through genocide is not sustainable.

The US is not and has never been good. The Ds are not and have never been good. They preside over genocides, support Nazis and NeoNazis, starve millions of innocents for political gain, kill children, destroy the environment for generations with chemicals and radioactive waste, mass incarcerate people for profit and political control, purge leftists from the country when necessary, spread lies about the world to create hatred and fear, and never stop spending money on the larger war machine in history as it grinds people into blood and dust.

The Rs do it too. There is no good to be found in the US political system. None. Zero. Zilch. The perfect is the not the enemy of the good here. There is no good to be an enemy of. The leftists in America fighting both parties are the good. Perfect is the enemy of the revolutionary left.

If you fail to sell, you can spend literally years building something that will never make money. The reason the developer wants to start a business is to make money, not build something that works without money

And it’s totally doable. Ecom has been going through a “headless” revolution for a while now, meaning way better APIs and metadata.

There’s A LOT of problems in the ecom world around product images, availavle inventory, and metadata accuracy, but it’s definitely worth exploring.

Selling something that doesn’t exist yet is the key. A programmer is asking us how to start a business and talking about building something. The answer is not to build right now and instead do the sales work. The programmer and the salesperson are the same in this post, and alignment is guaranteed. The most important thing is sales and the programmer needs to focus entirely on the sales discipline.

And even more important, everyone’s experience with sales people is missing the most critical part of entrepreneurship - selling before a product is even defined! It’s not even about selling something that doesn’t exist. It’s about discovering the pain the customer is before deciding on what to build

Literally the only thing that matters is sales. Sales people make money regardless of whether the product is good or sometimes regardless of it even exists.

Programmers think the game is to make something good. It’s not. It’s telling people to pay you.

Spend all of your time talking to people about what problems they have and then ask them which problems cost them money or whether they would spend money to solve a problem.

Most of the time, if you tell people your idea, they will lie to you about the idea being good, but they will never spend money on it. So don’t try to find the idea that people like. Find the problem that costs people money.

It’s literally completely artificial PR from the political-business elite and has absolutely nothing to do with organic evolution of language. Conservatism is the US is literally liberalism. The word Conservative still means monarchist in the rest of the Anglo world, because the rest of the Anglo world is still deeply connected to their Commonwealth history.

In the US, red scare propagandists hand in hand with business elite who wanted to maximize profits and destroy worker rights took an existing term and defined it with Orwellian doublespeak, literally saying “we’re not liberals” when very obviously to everyone educated in politics they absolutely were liberals and still are.

So conservativism became liberalism?

No, sorry. There are still conservatives in the world, mostly in Europe, mostly where monarchs are still in place like the UK. Conservatism is alive and well with its original meaning. Yes it has evolved. No it hasn’t evolved into its direct contradiction.

Only in America did some liberals decide to label themselves conservative as a way of creating an openly contradictory position from which to manage the electorate. Their PR is phenomenal because they claim to not be liberal but argue for private property, individual freedom, unregulated markets, and small government. Literally the definition of liberalism, but somehow, not liberals!

It boggles the fucking mind.

American conservativism is already inherently contradictory. Conservativism as a political movement emerged in Europe in response to the emergence of liberalism. Liberalism is anti-monarchy. Conservatism is pro-monarchy. US conservativism is anti-monarchy, pro-market, pro-private property - all of these positions are liberal positions. American conservativism is liberalism.

So to adopt the label of conservative in America you already have to be ignorant of political philosophy, history, and the meaning of words that you use on a daily basis, and you have to be living out a full contradiction of political views. Or you have to be in the grifter elite that does understand this and use it as a way to fleece people.

The people who stay in the American conversative are under such psychology strain from the cognitive dissonance that they absolutely have to have purity tests to keep any challenge to their narratives out of their zones.
