Not too surprising lol. That is about how old I was when I was into it
It’s a communal project in which people make up lovecraftian monsters and objects that they share on a wiki, basically. There’s an expansive system of lore to it, including an MIB-esque organization that is collecting and, when possible, innoculating them, as well as all these different methods and procedures for interacting with them and categorizing them and junk.
Lots of strange and creative ideas scattered throughout. I liked it when it was just starting off but haven’t kept up, so I can’t speak for the modern quality overall, though I’m sure they’ve still got some bangers here and there.
Why would you post a dead link? Pacific Rim does not have any sequels. Pacific Rim has never had any sequels. As it should be.
It reads more and more like a relic of its time, but it’s still just such a damn good watch. You speak truth
I was hesitant about adding Blue Velvet to my list because it’s so…‘difficult’, let’s say. Lynch knocked it out of the park (as usual), but it’s just so deeply unsettling on so many interesting levels. Thinking about it tho, that might be exactly why I should have added it. Eh. Either way, great picks!
And please continue making edits lol. You’ve got good taste and I plan on checking this thread over the the next couple days just to compare notes/see what I want to watch next.
It is truly an underrated classic! The only complaint I have about it is the presence of Wahlberg, but even he aced his role if I’m being totally honest. The entire cast utterly slays it, really. And that’s not even getting into the stellar themes, writing, and transcendental message! Easily one of my favorites of its genre and era
That’s nice to know. I might just take that dive after all
That…is a lot easier to remember than I had feared. Im gonna do a little reading on the subject and think about rolling them bones when I have the time. Thanks for the info, dude!
Wish someone would do this for me tbh. I’d like to make the change, but am tech-incompetent enough that I fear I might brick my only computer were I to try.
Dave Made a Maze! I forgot about that gem
Haven’t seen K-pop yet, but everything else on your list are some of my favorites. Gonna have to check this out ig
In no particular order:
*~ not a sequel, but a reimagining, if anyone’s curious. No need to have seen the first to enjoy this.
** also not a sequel. By far the best live action piece to come out of this franchise. The only one worth watching tbh
*** direct sequel. They’re all pretty good, but this one is, visually, as nice as the genre gets imo. The choreography and cinematography, both, are simply beautiful.
Edit: Fargo and Akira belong on this list too
Some of them do it because they dont want to admit to being fascists themselves…for now. Others genuinely do not care what the true meaning of the word is, and of them, many actively choose to refuse to learn. And some others still are just saying what the talking heads they trust tell them to say, regardless of what they know or knew before.
Regardless of where they fall on this spectrum, reduction is a big part of the message, one way or another. Restricting how people understand this concept makes it easier to actualize it because vast swaths of these fools will be unable to recognize it for what it is until they find themselves in its very maw.
Are we all doomed? Cause it’s feeling more and more like we might all be doomed before long ngl
I was playing Custom Robo until Armored Core’s existence was brought to my attention. So now I’m working through the og title and it is crazy fun so far.
There’s been a little Pokémon Colisseum on the side as well, as I never got to try it as a kid. Much better than the main series and I wish they’d drop more interesting experiences like this one…but they got their money machine and no reason to risk turning it off ig. Lame-os.
Then we may have met before. I’d rather not be identified on this account, so I’ll just text some of the old gang, and if you’re on the list, you’re on the list lol
It’s widely agreed to be an evergreen watch. I first saw it when I was around 25-30yo and was immediately smitten with its masterful direction and vision, so nostalgia played as little a part in my initial appreciation of it as is possible. Definitely worth a watch or 5!
