I’m fine with graphics from 20 years ago, i just need it to run 4k 120fps with no stutters. GTA SA (the original) is totally fine for me visually with a few mods to allow high res, widescreen and high fps fix.

recent games are graphically too intensive for my gpu even on lowest settings, and i paid fucking 800€ for it a few years ago!

ikr, i try to stay away from the stock one too

1. don’t use the shortcuts. steam on linux is a buggy mess, i have had those shortcuts corrupt the game so bad i had to remove and reinstall the game more than once…

2. in steam settings, disable shaders pre-caching. that’s only a waste of time feature and it will cause some games fail to launch.

3. when you unticked user defaults, it changed the mount point and maybe the id too. your secondary drive can be located in different directories. personally i always set it under /mnt and set id as HDD.

extra tip: use a better kernel like liquirix or xanmod. in my experience games have lower latency, and system doesn’t hang when there’s some resource intensive task going on. they are very easy to set up too. in liquorix you paste one command in the terminal and reboot, and in xanmod you paste 3 commands. if a kernel fails to boot you can always use the old one too, so there’s no risk even. (just tap shift key on boot until you get grub menu)

odd. maybe they ship worse products to smaller countries or something. i also have a gigabyte gpu and it has been a nightmare since day 1, i regret not returning it. suspected bios problems in both gpu and mobo. i have also seen three different instances of quality issues when my friends have bought gigabyte mobos. DOA, one died within a year, one had loose RAM slots and retailer wouldn’t replace it under warranty…

is gigabyte a reputable brand tho? i have never had a good gigabyte product, and i have never heard of one either when my friends have owned them. recently made the mistake of buying a gb mobo and it’s such a piece of shit 😅 and i only have myself to blame, all for saving 20€…

same thing here on the other side of the planet, the cheapest i have available is 500 Mbps. it’s only 20€ though.

which game is that? have you tried proton GE? if it’s anticheat stuff, your best choice is to dual boot unfortunately. if it isn’t resource intensive, i guess you could try GPU passthrough in a VM and see if it works. you need two GPUs for that tho…

well, i stand corrected. i only have win10 on my laptop that i use for school and haven’t seen any popups. may be because updater is broken beyond repair…
