I believe it would be possible to reduce the U.S. part even further and I also think it’s inevitable it happens, because Norway and Australia don’t slap tariffs on it - so they are going to be cheaper as well.
nexusband@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Germany: Chancellor Olaf Scholz loses vote of confidenceEnglish711·9 months agoGermany’s Election and people are relatively robust. The efforts Russia pooled in to the AfD are tremendous and they resulted in mostly nothing. The resulting chaos in the rest of the parties are mostly their own doing. The SPD and CDU bickering and fighting stupid battles that do not need to be fought, the greens not being united and still trying to make many things outright illegal, the FDP not getting rid of Lindner and the Linke/BSW being way to far up that Russian ass came about without considerable effort from the Russians. Also, Germany has the same issue like all countries these days, “the common people” do not want to deal with politics

An authoritarian controlled economy will fail. A controlled economy is an absolut must.Without rules, that’s anarchism. That will fail either. Case in point: The USA. None of the rules are enforced and capitalism gone wild just bought the government outright.
nexusband@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•As the Canada "tax holiday" starts, Walmart increased the price of an item by the amount I would have savedEnglish135·9 months agoName one. Price hikes are not illegal in any country in Europe. Changing prices after selling and other shady stuff is illegal in most European countries on the other hand, but this is not it. If the 55 were on sale before, a “sale” price can be axed as most see fit. This screams coincidence and bad luck to me.

However, not really what i’m looking for in this case, because i don’t want to use a device other than the printer itself. With scan to folder, you just set the MFP to scan something to an FTP, SMB or whatever folder. The ET-4850 unfortunately doesn’t support that, so i’m looking for an alternative…i could just run a Windows VM on my Proxmox and let that do the “Scan-To” stuff, but that’s pretty resource intensive… But the more i look in to it, it seems there is no solution (except a Windows VM) for this, as SANE only “speaks to the MFP” and the MFP can’t talk to SANE via WSD…

nexusband@lemmy.worldOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Solution for convenient document scanning?English4·9 months agoFor that, the PC has to be on. I’m using that as well, but that’s not really what i want it to do in this case. For example…i get a an invoice in the mail, i open the mail and the Epson is in the hallway downstairs, right next to the main door. I put an ASN/Barcode on the original document concerning the user paperpless should file that document under, scan the document and put it in the loose filing bin…etc. Basically, i do not want to have to use the PC.

According to Greg Pallast, investigative journalist with the BBC, there have been over 800k provisional ballots that have not been counted because they have been thrown out. He even has the exact names of people, who’s ballots have been thrown out.
If it wasn’t so dire, I’d find it extremely fascinating…
nexusband@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Trump Is Pissed at True Reports His Victory Wasn’t Exactly a Landslide12·10 months agoYou don’t have to fake ballots. You can just throw absentee ballots out, after them being challenged…which happens since 2000 (it’s apparently one of the reasons Bush won), this time however there have been over 800k ballots that have been thrown out…in swing states alone.
Considering the margins are so slim, a few 100k challenged voters here and there…and you have “We don’t need your votes, we have enough” https://youtu.be/X3hXeEiFcJM?si=-lJLqmIDZM4PewcT

nexusband@lemmy.worldto Ukraine@sopuli.xyz•Russia ‘fires intercontinental ballistic missile’ at Ukraine for first time101·10 months agoNah, we’re not numb. But the fact of the matter is, we can’t change anything and letting him win is not going to work, because what’s the alternative? Being subjugated or attacked at a later state?
Putin should not forget however, that “we”, the EU, also have Nukes and will retaliate, if push comes to shove. Those threats are meaningless either way.
nexusband@lemmy.worldto Ukraine@sopuli.xyz•Angela Merkel recalls Putin’s fear of Ukraine joining NATO181·10 months agoI’m going to get down voted, but it’s a bit more complicated than that. Granted, in hindsight the “economic binding” strategy was clearly wrong and a bad call, but at the time “we” believed Putin that he will honor agreements and be a trustworthy partner. And that he will honor Russian economy over territorial things, that do not matter at all for the standing of russia - hell, even back then the consensus was that Russia will utterly fail if they try something stupid, because they “needed” the gas money more, than we needed their gas. And while that downfall will take a few more years, it is inevitable. I admit though, I could not have been more wrong about some things…
Good luck on him trying that. I still strongly believe that things are very different here…
