You can’t get past the old brain problem though so Donny’s shit out of luck.

nogooduser@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Elon Musk's curious fixation with BritainEnglish2·9 months agoDemocracy can’t exist with massive wealth inequality or individuals/orgs able to buy politicians, parties, or elections (e.g. billionaires).
We could pass/strengthen laws that prevent politicians from being bought but that wouldn’t benefit the politicians so I guess that we’re shit out of luck on that one.
nogooduser@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Elon Musk's curious fixation with BritainEnglish15·9 months agoThere really should be some laws around how much funding parties can accept as donations and it should be zero from non citizens. Why is it ok for non voters to have any influence over elections and policies?

It’s bonkers that this was an option but they still intended to dismantle the bridge instead.

I’m not a lawyer though.
nogooduser@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Great except every delivery estimate at every point said Friday, November 22English31·10 months agoI ordered a laptop the other week. It was a rush job because the previous one was unusable so I selected a model that had next day delivery.
I got an email at about 8.30pm that day saying that they’d dispatched it early! They’d have struggled to have got it to me next day if you’d dispatched it any later.

nogooduser@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Bird flu in Canada may have mutated to become more transmissible to humansEnglish5·10 months agoSorry, I guess that I needed a “/s” judging by the downvotes.
I was referring to how anti-vaccers all “do their own research” which generally involves no actual research at all.
I’d also like to point out that when you say “the energy mix” you’re not meaning the energy mix used by this project.
If any of our energy is from fossil fuels then increasing the use of energy increases the use of fossil fuels. Even if a new project uses 100% renewable energy it will increase the amount of fossil fuels used until we’ve eliminated them completely.
