The apartments with pets thing, in my building currently there’s an owner who put their dog out in the balcony at night and it would just bark for hours. I sleep at around midnight with barking in the background. I don’t even know until how late it usually does it

I live in Australia, which I guess is not a civilized country.
In any case, what does that even mean for software engineers to be certified? Do we get certifications for specific programming language? Or a stack? Or is it specific to what industry your tech is based on? Cos I don’t think it makes sense for someone working on a social media platform to have the same certification as someone who’s working on health tech for example. Why does it need to be a protected title? Does the general public even care or is it just other certified engineers who care?
Yeah I was gonna ask, whether certification/government regulations are required for all engineering disciplines. I graduated with a CS degree and work as a software engineer now. I have family members who studied different engineering disciplines (industrial, civil, mechanical, etc), and only 1 of them ever needed certification (civil engineer). What makes one more “engineering” than others?
No, he actually doesn’t lol. He’s generally a safe driver and would leave a safe gap if someone signals
My husband when changing lanes would wait until he has space, then indicates while turning. He thinks that if he indicates too early, other drivers would intentionally close gaps and not give him way
My husband got a ticket/points on his license doing that and that stopped him.
Hah. That’s fair. I figured that’s what the upvotes are for. The 2 halves are quite different.
Mind Hunter on Netflix.
Also JC Chasez’s second solo album that got shelved. I’ve been on an *NSYNC kick lately and would have loved more music from him.
I loved it too! It was different and fun to watch
I’ve only visited Colorado once, during my cross country road trip maybe 10 years ago (I’ve since left the US) and loved it there. I did notice how much healthier/thinner everyone was. I was in Boulder for 2-3 days and did a couple day hikes. Everyone was very friendly. I would love to live there. As someone who’s on the higher side of normal weight, I’ve never felt so unfit.
Nightmare Before Christmas. I just have a soft spot for Jack Skellington, possibly my first ever crush.
I have a 15 Pro as well and mine is still ok. Although I rarely use the port because I use wireless charging most of the time.
I did have an issue with CarPlay disconnecting sometimes, even though the cable itself doesn’t pop out. But it also happens on my husband’s Pixel, and we’ve tried other cables, so we think it’s just the car’s connection rather than the cable/phone.
Rimworld, and Football Manager (although they last one I played is 2020)
Just sharing, this is from the guild, games to play while they’re on strike: https://nytimesguild.org/tech/guild-builds/
I’ve actually never gotten sausage after voting 😬
Australia (Sydney). A few years ago I went and there was a queue going outside the door and volunteers were telling people that it would take 30-45 minutes but to please stay in line. They were also handing out Tim Tams for people in line. I decided to try another polling station instead, which was 10-15 minutes walk away. There was no queue at all there so I was out within a couple minutes. So that one took the longest even though most of it was walking to another location. Wish there was a way to tell the people in that queue that other locations were empty.
I know I’m being pedantic but I just thought it’s interesting that you said “there’s not a car in sight” when I thought the primary concern was drivers not paying attention to pedestrians crossing the street.
However, why is it more stupid to sit there when there’s not a car on sight only when turning right but not when going straight or turning left? There’s an argument for larger roads with many lanes, sure, but isn’t it the same when it’s only 1-2 lane roads?
