Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you successfully maintain a calorie deficit over the long run?
1·3 days agoGreat. Sounds like you have a strategy for you.
I just eat till I feel full, not paying attention to portions.
Even when I wasn’t watching what I eat at all I never salted a salad. Never found it necessary. I just like the way leafy greens taste.
We have pretty different sets of tastes.

Technology@lemmy.world•What an unprocessed photo looks likeEnglish
121·3 days agoNot sure how worth mentioning it is considering how good the overall write up is.
Even though the human visual system has a non-linear perception of luminance. The camera data needs to be adjusted because the display has a non-linear response. The camera data is adjusted to make sure it appears linear to the displays face. So it’s display non-uniform response that is being corrected, not the human visual system.
There is a bunch more that can be done and described.
3chip cmos sensors are about 20-25 years out of date technology. Mosaic pattern sensors have eclipsed them on most imaging metrics.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you successfully maintain a calorie deficit over the long run?
3·4 days agoI hope so.
It’s way easier to be extreme then constantly make choices. Takes a lot more brain power to says sometimes it’s okay as opposed to never.
Still I’m trying it out.

21·4 days agoYou do you.
It’s way easier to eat the right amount of food if you aren’t making it extra salty or extra sweet.
Basically I need to eat foods that actually taste good as opposed to making them palatable.
I have had to find different ways to season foods. I find I am more sensitive to salt and less salt makes me satisfied.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you successfully maintain a calorie deficit over the long run?
11·4 days agoEating fats to stay thin when you are young will lead to cardiovascular challenges when you older.
It does work a treat for a few decades. High Cholesterol helps build testosterone and suppress appetite. It’s just long term bad.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you successfully maintain a calorie deficit over the long run?
71·4 days agoThere are a few different strategies I have used at different phases in life.
Where I am at right now.
Don’t eat processed foods. They make it easy to over way by design.
Eat the recommended amount of sodium or less a day. Sodium makes food more palatable. You will find yourself eating less calories simply because the food isn’t as good.
I’ve been eating the recommended amount if fiber on purpose. I eat oatmeal instead of rice/potatoes/bread. It’s filling and less ‘munchable’ if you think you are hungry put a bowl of oatmeal infront of yourself. I do season it with olive oil and spices.
I restrict sugar and high fuctrose corn syrup for the same reason I restrict salt. Sugar makes food taste to good making it easy to eat more then you need to without realizing.
These change help me eat the proper and filling portions of food without overeating. I eat till I’m full.
I also only eat like this most of the time. But even then I’m giving myself leeway on the holidays. I just try to make more good decisions then bad.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do any of you actually know someone who legitimately believes there's an actual "War on Christmas?"
3·7 days agoCertain christian groups push that narrative to make more of an in group and and out group. I attend a few different denominations of churches. You get a way to really see how different people view the world and their religion that way.
Some groups as a core belief that they must struggle to bring the word of God to everyone. Struggle is the operative word. If they don’t feel like they are behind ‘enemy lines’ they aren’t completing the holy mission. The best way to get that feeling is puff up any small difference into an uncross-able gulf.
There is so much rhetoric made on their communication channels to reinforce that view. They truly believe it because ‘it’s all around them’ It’s way cushier to run a mission trip from the Louisiana to California than it is to a truly under-served part of the world.
Everything I have seen on it points to the fact that things can get better with effort. Since like any mental status it has a spectrum of severity.
One of the main problems with Narcissism is the lack of self awareness as well as the lack of mind-fullness of those around. It’s going to be pretty hard to get a different perspective on behavior without an outside reference.
I’ve heard a story a people who was narcissists improving, but I have no idea of it was self driven or with assistance.

Outside of the US there isn’t a possible meaning for a CSA Battle Flag that isn’t for racism. Getting a birthday cake with that shows a great deal of effort to align themselves in a personal way with white supremacy.
The sentiment is literally wishing that the CSA won and the continental United States was a slavery supporting super power.
Red onion skin is part of kids science experiments about PH. I just did that experiment with my kids not long ago.
